Juan Rodrigo Machado Mosquera

Juan Rodrigo Machado Mosquera is a trained architect and activist. His father Temístocles Machado, a community leader that defended the rights to the land of the Black communities in Buenaventura, Colombia, and created an archive of the land deprivation under which they suffered, was murdered in 2018. Today, Machado Mosquera himself is a community leader of the Commune 6 of Buenaventura facing the issues of land dispossession in the neighborhoods of Isla de la Paz, El Oriente and La Cima; continuing his father’s struggle and archival work.
