Straub and Huillet deliver a new interpretation of the libretto of the Schoenberg opera of the same name. Rather than theological conflict, they focus on the political confrontation, the power struggle between Moses and Aaron and the people. A film about the necessity of movement, while the camera moves only minimally, and a western for those who otherwise never set foot in an opera house. The burning bush begins to sing.
