Her career has been in continual ascent for two decades. Her most recent albums, including an MTV Unplugged recording with Marisa Monte, Gustavo Santaolalla, and others, have achieved platinum status in Mexico. Julieta Venegas has worked with stars such as Cachorro Lopez and Los de Abajo, as well as Spanish artists like Pedro Guerro and Mastretta. She has contributed to the soundtracks of a number of films, including Amores Perros by Iñárritu. Originally trained in piano and cello, in the mid-1990s she turned to the accordion, which has informed her compositional hand ever since: her songs, which bear influences ranging from songwriter pop à la Suzanne Vega and David Bowie to mariachi and norteña music, reggae, ska, and Mexican boleros, are marked by thoughtful orchestration and a fragile elegance.

Julieta Venegas is following the concert by Dengue Fever (7 p.m.)
