If there were something like an animal pop chart, it would be topped by birds, whales, and crickets.
David Rothenberg, the author of Why Birds Sing, has not only documented and analyzed the most lyric expressions of fauna around the world, he also has engaged in musical dialogue with the greatest (and smallest) masters of music from the animal kingdom, playing as an underwater clarinetist with humpback whales and jamming with Australian lyre birds. In this concert, he presents the most astonishing encounters between the species. Musical guests of the evening are musicians of white noise: the crickets.
