Free project rooms and art initiatives offer space for a critical and flexible contemporary artistic practice. However, there is a lack of genuine support and appreciation for their grass-roots work, for example among politicians.

The presentation of the study “Projektraume: Vitales, aber fragiles Herz der Kunstszene” (“Project rooms: vital but fragile heart of the art scene”) by the art sociologist Severine Marguin followed by a discussion featuring Daniela Wolf (HKW), Jan Ketz (Raum fur Zweckfreiheit), Leonie Baumann (Kunsthochschule Berlin Weisensee), and Andreas Koch (artist), among others.
