At the height of the Cold war, the modern dance icon Martha Graham performed at the opening of the Kongresshalle 1957, an institution set up on the initiative of Eleonor Dulles – and now called the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
Victoria Phillips Geduld (Columbia University) takes the opportunity to reflect on the instrumentalization of architecture in US foreign policy and, at the same time, the role of women.
