Ann Liv Young’s shows are vulgar, unscrupulous and controversial. In “Sherry Show” the word is her chosen instrument. The plot is replaced by dialogue.
Sherry is a figure that also turns up in other shows, an extravagant, feminist southern American, honest, direct, quick-witted and sharp-tongued. She provokes the audience by shamelessly asking about topics such as anal sex, lies, violence – without fear of offending people but with an indisputable talent for getting them to talk. Thus, the artist creates an unusual situation for the audience: being in the same room as Sherry means letting yourself in for unpredictable and extreme experiences; and, last but not least, for a confrontation with yourself.
