Despereaux Tilling is a mouse like no other. An half pint with ears much too big, he also exhibits a very unmouselike attitude. He loves music and books – not as something to nibble on, but because of the stories – and he especially loves human Princess Pea up in the castle. When she pets his head one day, the highest council of mice declares: Despereaux is a danger to the community and must be banished.
