Reflections for pupils: South Africa Today
With Sindiwe Magona (South Africa)
Thu, Sep 16, 2010
10 am
In English
After an introductory reading of selected poetry from “Please, Take Photographs,” the author will discuss contemporary life in South Africa beyond the brightly lit stage of the Football World Cup with the young adult participants. Born in the Transkei and raised in the Cape Flats near Cape Town, Sindiwe Magona worked for several years at the UN in New York and, after her return to South Africa, continued to dedicate herself to the subjects of Apartheid, the HIV pandemic and everyday life in South Africa.
