Gestures. Mis en Scène, Performance and Practice

Gestures make sense, and accompany spoken language as a means of interpretation. They also have a ‘life of their own', however, with no direct relationship to the spoken word. The annual conference of the special research field ‘Cultures of the Performative’, will be discussing complex questions about the performative: how gestures are defined, how they are learned and performed, how they operate and what effect they have. Conceived by Erika Fischer-Lichte and Christoph Wulf. Participation free of charge, languages: German and English.
