A multilingual landscape of literature – a guide book for an indeterminable Jewish identity
Ein jüdischer Garten (A Jewish Garden) explores the Jewish experience, history and thought through the creation of an imaginary landscape of literature, with around 160 texts that deal with different plants from diverse linguistic contexts, regions, epochs and cultures. Here, acacias by Clarice Lispector thrive next to onions from the Hebrew Bible, in between plums by Albert Londres, poppies by Abraham Sutzkever, corn by Gabriele Tergit, a mango by Ronit Matalon and grass by Olga Tokarczuk. Together they form a migratory garden of words beyond linguistic and national boundaries – and a guide book for an indeterminable Jewish identity.
