Land Confiscation Order 06/24/T

Larissa Sansour [ps/dk]

In her video ‘Land Confiscation Order 06/24/T’, Sansour explores the notion of territory as constitutive of not only national, but also personal identity. ‘LCO 06/24/T’ is a requiem for a small piece of land and a house made of stone.

Under Construction

Zhenchen Liu [fr/cn]

City planners decide to pull down parts of Shanghai’s old town in order to regenerate the city. Every year more than 100.000 families are forced to leave their homes. ‘Under Construction’ is a two and three-dimensional flight across the now destroyed living areas of Shanghai.

Trip

Calin Dan [nl/ee]

‘Trip’ is inspired by the masterpiece from the oeuvre of architect Raine Karp – the concert hall designed for the city of Tallinn between 1975-1980. Considered the most important building realised in Estonia, Linnahall is a time capsule preserving the utopian ideas of centralised power and of egalitarian modernism.

To Build Zheng Daoxing Concert Hall

Xu Tan [cn]

Zheng Daoxing, a native of Yangjiang County, had to abandon his business during the Asian economic crisis. He decides to become a singer. His songs are often inspired by revolutionary songs; he uses personal experiences for his texts. Yet singers like Zheng Daoxing have no place to perform and therefore are forced to move from one place to another.

Die Internationale

Theo Ligthart [de]

A gentleman in a dark pinstriped suit turns the crank on a tiny music box playing ‘Die Internationale’ – the anthem of the workers movement.

30 Seconds

Claudia Salamanca [us/cl]

In 2003 Tito, the suspended mayor of the small town of El Roble, Colombia, gave a speech that described his own death. Tito denounced the corrupt powers, revealing the dirty nexus of the offices of the regional and national prosecutors. Salamanca compares this anticipation of death with her personal pain in regards to the illness of her mother.
