What’s behind #BlackLivesMatter? What does the surprising rise of democratic socialists like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez mean for the future of US politics? And how can the unfulfilled promise of equality for Blacks in America be honored? These and other questions will be topics of discussion for Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, author and professor of African-American Studies at Princeton University, Loren Balhorn and Katharina Pühl from the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung.

Taylor is among the chief voices of the new American left. She is the author of From #BlackLivesMatter to Black Liberation and editor of How We Get Free: Black Feminism and the Combahee River Collective. In 2016, the online magazine The Root called her one of the most influential African-Americans. Articles by her have appeared in the New York Times, Paris Review, The Guardian and Jacobin. Her latest book, Race for Profit: Black Housing and the Urban Crisis of the 1970s, will be published in fall of 2019.
