The Blitz Cinema section of the programme presents outstanding film works by contemporary witnesses and protagonists of the scene that deal with the cultural identity of African-Americans, subcultural movements like rap and Afro-punk, biographies of transsexuals in pop culture, and the "golden age" of gay New York before the advent of AIDS.

The British documentary filmmaker Nick Broomfield pursues two murder cases in the gangsta rap milieu: In 1996 rapper Tupac Shakur was shot in Las Vegas, and Biggie Smalls died the following year in Los Angeles. Broomfield's theses have reopened the long-closed files of these cases: the wide-mesh net of political and economic interests is becoming obvious.
