Contemporary international cinema from the perspective of children and youth: The Berlinale section encourages young people to participate in the discourse over artistic films and to gather under the banner of movie culture.
The Generation festival section offers under-18 Berlin audiences a home. A program of approximately 60 films invites moviegoers of all ages to make new cinematic discoveries and additionally offers the opportunity to talk with the participating filmmakers. The two contests Generation Kplus and Generation 14plus will officially open on February 16. The competition Generation 14plus will start off with the road movie 303, in the presence of the director Hans Weingartner and his cast. The Generation Kplus competition will open with an adventurous journey: Den utrolige historie om den kæmpestore pære (The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear) by Philip Einstein Lipski, Amalie Næsby Fick and Jørgen Lerdam.
The children’s jury and youth jury will announce the winners of the contests along with the two international juries at the closing of the Berlinale Generation on February 23 and 24.
