The grounds of the present House of World Cultures, with their natural stone walls, shrub gardens and resting places, were completed in 1956 – 1958, in time for the opening of the Congress Hall, which was then also under construction. The architect of the Congress Hall, Hugh A. Stubbins, was also involved in designing the garden conceived by Hans Migge. The tour takes in the only ensemble of the Großer Tiergarten, which provides a peaceful view across the River Spree.
