Society under Construction (Staat 2)
By Stefan Kaegi (Rimini Protokoll)
Thu, Mar 1–Sun, Mar 4, 2018
What do major construction sites—the hidden choreographies of delayed completions and cost adjustments, the interdependencies of investors and governments, the murky connections across the world—divulge about our society? Eight simultaneous construction-site tours are condensed to form a busy scene in which the audience follows various experts: a Romanian construction worker talks about existential angst and illegal employment; the former smoke-extraction planner for Berlin’s BER Airport reconstructs how he became a fall guy for the government; an economist gazes from a terrace overlooking Singapore at a master plan for post-fossil construction; and an ant expert shows what a construction industry could look like with an understanding of participation as more than the sum of particular interests.
