Reminiscent of a marching band from New Orleans that has taken a wrong turn and ended up at a wedding in the Punjab: Formed in 2008 by the highly active New York drummer and percussionist Sunny Jain, Red Baraat dress up an old style in new clothes: Dhol & Brass. With his Dhol drum, Jain rules over the eight piece group's concentrated brass power. Infectious, sweaty, hypnotic - they call it Brooklyn bhangra. The band recently released their third album “Gaadi of Truth.”

Danceable between tradition and futurism: Since the early 80's Punjabi music has been mixed with rock, hip hop, breakbeat and sound system culture in the communities of London, Birmingham and Manchester, long before Punjabi MC brought bhangra and desi to an international audience. Swami, founded by the London producer Diamond Duggal, have made a name for themselves in the scene with "Desi Rock" (2006) and continue to thrill fans from San Francisco and Glastonbury to Mumbai.
