On the Circumventionist Frontier

with Telekommunisten

Telekommunisten elaborate the social relations embedded in network topologies and communications platforms.

In this session, they will engage with techno-solutionist attitudes which promise to resolve the social unease in the current crises in online privacy and information security. Cryptography and other circumventionist techniques are all useful but each has their limitation primarily in their impact on underlying forces which make networked communication so fraught with dangers in the first place.

Two presentations will be followed by a discussion with the audience:
Dmytri Kleiner: “Hackers can’t stop surveillance”
Baruch Gottlieb: “Data self-determination in the age of ubiquitous computing”
