Two semi-documentary projects on the gangster phenomenon of South Africa.
In Gangster Project, the filmmaker enters into the scene, seemingly part of it, and raises the subject — repeatedly and openly — of his inherently dubious role as an interloper. In Gangster Backstage, conversely, he invites his protagonists to a studio to present themselves and to be interviewed on camera.
