A “supergroup” made up of musicians from the “Echtzeitmusik” family, which is active in and around the Prenzlauer Berg counterculture location ausland e.V., gears up to get to the bottom of the sticky-sweet secret of Kenny G.

– All the while bearing in mind the concepts of such “unstupid” artists as ambient pioneer Erik Satie (“Furniture Music”), smooth operator Brian Eno (“Music for Airports”) and masters of subversion like William S. Burroughs and Genesis P–Orridge: With “My Funny Valentine,” the project Seems stretches a classic of background music to the limits of recognizability. The duo ercklentz/neumann presents “smooth jazz” renditions of its own pieces. Trumpeter Axel Dörner, specialist for the softest tones, introduces his composition “Verdacht,” an ephemeral piece for trumpet and electronics. And the “classic rock power trio” The Understated Brown wades into the thicket of easy listening and bar jazz references.
