Nice to Meet you - Cultural Collisions in 100 Sec
Anyone could submit their stories for the multimedia competition: Nice to Meet you – Cultural Collisions in 100 Sec
Although this dialogue has been an integral part of everyday life in Berlin for some time now, it is not something that people living in here take for granted. Is intercultural dialogue really nothing more than an expression coined by politicians – politically correct but basically empty talk? Or do we encounter it day in day out, with every step we take: as a conflict, as a misunderstanding, or as a revelation or laughter?
The competition is being run by radiomultikulti from the Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg broadcasting company and by the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in co-operation with rbb television and the European Year of Cultural Dialogue.
A jury made up of prominent personalities selected the most interesting, moving, exciting and funniest entries to the multimedia competition Nice to Meet you – Cultural Collisions in 100 Sec.
The jury chairman is Swiss director, actor and screenwriter Dani Levy. Other members of the jury are the German-Turkish woman director and author Buket Alakus, Russian journalist and author. Vladimir Kaminer, the German-Turkish pop singer Muhabbet, as well as Heinrich Popow (Germany’s winner of a medal at the Beijing Paralympics in 2008).
The prize award ceremony will be taking place on 18 November 2008 at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
The project is held under the patronage of the Mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, and the minister-president of Brandenburg, Matthias Platzeck.
