Asia-Pacific Weeks 2011
Cultural program
The focus of this year’s Asia-Pacific Weeks Berlin 2011 from September 6–17 is on issues crucial to humankind’ s future “Water, Food, Health”. In addition to business and scientific forums, there will also be a comprehensive cultural program, coordinated and conceived by the Haus der Kulturen der Welt.
In exhibitions, performances, concerts and readings, the cultural program of the Asia-Pacific Weeks examines the central theme of food as a basic need and as a form of culture in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. Artists address the current and future significance of nutrition, well-being and health in the context of ecology, economics and technology. In doing so, they will highlight different cultures of growing and cooking food and different forms of food enjoyment, such as communal meals and feasts.
The Haus der Kulturen der Welt presents its own multi-part program, with Floating Food and Meridian | Urban, and is also coordinating the program contributions of Aedes Architekturforum e.V. Water – Curse or Blessing!?, HAU Leaving the comfort zone and Singing Garden - Japan im RADIALSYSTEM V.
