Serres + 1 #2: Alexander Kluge
"Sail towards the setting sun, until you see a certain small algae drifting in the water, as soon as the sea turns very, very blue, keep to the left."
Angels, messengers, transmitters. - Mediators fascinate Michel Serres. Together with Alexander Kluge, he explores communication routines, modes of perception and intermediaries. In the process, both his mediality and the relationship of local to global take center stage. Where are the landscapes and places in which the world is experienced with all the senses? Do we need a new language to describe it?
Alexander Kluge is a writer, director and TV-producer known as a pioneer of the New German Cinema since the 1960s. He produces and presents cultural magazine programmes for Germany's private television.
An event by Haus der Kulturen der Welt and Merve Verlag in cooperation with the French Embassy and the Institut Français.
