Perception of Patterns in Timeless Influence (2007)
A play like a tableau that exists independently of the outside world: The woman with a rabbit, scarlet red and innocent white, exhibited in a glass case. Enter a violin and female voice from the audience, singing an aria to the creature behind glass, “Oh Bleed Dear Heart" from the Matthäus Passion. The recurring rhythmification of disconnection and communication creates an atmosphere of concentration and reflection.
Melati Suryodarmo studied under Marina Abramovic, among others, and is famed for her long-term performances. Here she experiments – in the confrontation between animals and their mythical attributes - with the patterns of human perception.
