This late-night meeting place offers a Brazilian mixture of rap, hip hop, traditional song, dance and instruments, turntables, samba and its equally rhythmic predecessor, maracatú.

A hard-edged dance style of screeching raps and booty-shaking beats, the sound of a Baile Funk (Favela Funk ball) can be considered the bastard child of Miami Bass music, which arrived in Brazil in the mid-1980s and went native. It’s music designed to be played as loud as possible throughout the sweltering tropical night. Baile Funk is a reflection of Brazil's (mythical or not) melting pot society, throwing into the saucepan a mixture of Funk, Miami Bass, Electro, Rap, Hip-Hop, Freestyle, Bastard pop and MPB (Musica Popular Brasileira). Plus some lively and unrelenting Brazilian rapping style that report live and direct from the favela streets.
