Franz Erhard Walther
Franz Erhard Walther is a German sculptor, conceptual, installation, and process artist. After studying fine arts in Offenbach and Frankfurt, he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1962 to 1964 alongside Gerhard Richter and Sigmar Pole. From 1967 to 1971 he lived and worked in New York before being appointed professor at the Hamburg Academy of Fine Arts. Among his students are Rebecca Horn, Christian Jankowski, Lili Fischer, Martin Kippenberger, and Jonathan Meese. Since his retirement in 2005, Walther has lived and worked in Fulda. He was awarded the Golden Lion as best artist at the Biennale di Venezia in 2017.
