Annette Wilke

Annette Wilke is a researcher in the aesthetics of religion with a focus on language and sound in Hinduism, Tantric ritual and techniques of imagination, Hindu temples and festival culture in the diaspora. She works on media and mediations of the contemporary Hindu school of philosophy Advaita-Vedanta and the shaping of global Hinduism. Annette Wilke has published widely on the aesthetics of religion. Her major work on Sound and Communication in India (along with Oliver Moebus, Sound and Communication. An Aesthetic Cultural History of Sanskrit Hinduism, 2011) received much international appreciation in various disciplines, such as History of Religion, Studies of Hinduism, Sociology and Musicology.
