Pelle Snickars

Pelle Snickars is Professor of Media and Communication Studies at Umeå University. His scholarly work is situated at the intersection of digital heritage, cultural histories of media and the digital humanities. For a number of years Snickars has been heading a software studies and digital humanities project on streaming media and Spotify – working with the extraction of data and datasets from Spotify via different digital methods. His co-authored book, Spotify Teardown. Inside the Black Box of Streaming Music (2019), provides an investigation of the inner workings of Spotify that traces the transformation of audio files into streamed experience.
