Bárbaro Martínez-Ruiz
Bárbaro Martínez-Ruiz is the Tanner-Opperman Chair of African Art History in Honor of Roy Sieber at Indiana University. His research focuses on Afro-Latin American and Caribbean visual culture, graphic writing systems, as well as African diaspora art and theories of the avant-garde. Among his publications are Kongo Graphic Writing and Other Narratives of the Sign (2013), Faisal Abdu’Allah: On the Art of Dislocation (2012), and Green Machine: The Art of Carlos Luna (2016).
