Erhard Schüttpelz
Erhard Schüttpelz is professor of media theory at the University of Siegen. He directed research projects on trance mediums and new media and on mediumism from Mesmer to New Age esotericism. His publications include Die Moderne im Spiegel des Primitiven (Modernity in the Mirror of the Primitive, 2005), which explores the interface between modern anthropology and the genre of “Persian letters,” including studies of Mauss and Durkheim.
