George Lewis is Edwin H. Case Professor of American Music at Columbia University, an award-winning composer and has been a member of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians since 1971. His work in electronic and computer music and multimedia installations has been performed internationally by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonia Orchestra and others. He is the author of A Power Stronger Than Itself: The AACM and American Experimental Music (2008).
