Lucy Ilado

Lucy Ilado is a music journalist and cultural activist based in Nairobi, Kenya. She currently heads the East African regional bureau of the Music In Africa Foundation (MIA). MIA is a fast growing information and exchange web portal and non-profit initiative, dedicated to support the African music sector through knowledge exchange and fostering collaboration. In addition, Ilado is a contributor with the Saturday Nation newspaper. Her interests lie in African traditional dances and music. She is presently involved in the recording and archiving of the music of the Iteso people from Western Kenya. She has completed the first phase, which was to record the songs and instruments of Obasie, the last surviving musician from the tribe. The project was sponsored by Ketebul Music in partnership with Abubilla Music (UK), under its Singing Wells archiving project in 2018.
