Joey Akan
Joey Akan is a writer, journalist, broadcaster, public relations consultant and commentator on current affairs, including African music, urban pop culture, politics, sport, race and gender. As music editor of Pulse Nigeria, he has written variously on topics concerning the music industry, including investigations into the music distribution business. His work has also appeared in the Guardian, New Yorker, New York Times, OkayAfrica, Genius Radio TV, CNN, Quartz, and Native magazine, among others. He delivers masterclasses on entertainment journalism, has spoken at TEDxUyo, and hosted panels at the New Media Conference in Lagos. He is a two-time winner of the Nigerian Writers Awards.
