How does a city affect the health and well-being of its inhabitants? What places energize newcomers? What places inspire beautiful thoughts or laughter? How can Berliners contribute to more warmth and care in their city?

The project The Caring City supports children, young people and their families who have fled from Ukraine and other countries to Germany in arriving in Berlin and brings them together with actors from urban society.

Participants approach Berlin as a playground by exploring, walking through, feeling, smelling, hearing, tasting and playing in the city. Encounters, recreation, urban nature, health, sustainability and mobility are the focus.

In numerous workshops, subjective maps of Berlin’s urban space, found objects, personal stories, photo, video and sound recordings are created and presented in an exhibition.
