The Anthropocene Project | An Opening
Sat, Jan 12, 2013 Dialog with Christina von Braun and Paulo Tavares. Introduction: Cecelia Watson
Why do we think that we possess nature? Did it start with the Great Transformation, as described by the historian Karl Polanyi? When land became property, nature became purchasable, and the logic of the market began its triumphal march in all realms? From struggles over land in Peru to the rights of the tropical forest in Ecuador, conceptual frameworks and examples are presented for deviant behavior. A conversation between urban planner and activist Paulo Tavares and cultural theorist Christina von Braun. Dialog with Christina von Braun (Institut für Kulturwissenschaft, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin) and Paulo Tavares (Department of Visual Cultures, Goldsmiths, University of London). Introduction: Cecelia Watson (Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte, Berlin)
