Yes we should add to Max Weber and Fernand Braudel exhaustive (or not
so) studies about the raise of capitalism in Europe some studies about
slavery in the Americas.

I would like to raise your attention, Raul,  about writings concerning
the Republic of the Guaranis, created by the Jesuits in the region where
Igua=E7u Falls are located, border of Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina. The
movie THE MISSION showed the birth and destruction of the Missions.
Ruins may still visited in the southern part of Brazil and I remember
that there are some anthropological films made by Simon Beck about "As
Miss=F5es" and many writings by Brazilian anthropologists and sociologist=
s
about this Utopian Republic.=20
