I think "The Messenger" was the most moving of his works to date and I've seen most of them since early days in the US. Have you read 'Reasons for Knocking at an Empty House'? (a collection of his writings which gives some real insight to his work.) Well, it did to me, I'd had no knowledge of his study of Sufi thought and that seems to suffuse his work. Lovely stuff.
