Alexei Shulgin and his 386 DX Cyberpunk band will
perform at the US/Mexican border on Saturday December
18, 1999 at 6:00 PM.

The internationally renowned artist from Russia was
invited to perform at Tijuana Media Center, Cinematik
(http://cinematik.com). Due to strict American visa
constraints and complicated immigration bureaucracy,
the only way for his performance to reach Mexico is
through a crack in the fence at the border.

At 6:00 PM this Saturday evening, all are invited to
join Shulgin and his 386 DX Cyberpunk band perform
across the border. The band consists of a single old
computer which sings rock'n'roll hits and features a
multimedia light show extravaganza. Come to the border
to witness the start of a new era in which computers
are replacing humans at all levels, with or without
borders.

Shulgin will perform on the manicured lawn of Border
Fields State Park, in the company of the uniformed
gun-slinging men and women of the US Border Patrol, who
will likely be patrolling the area for illegal Mexican
immigrants. It is expected that the Patrol will execute
a synchronous "ballet" for Shulgin's music by driving
their distinctive white and green vehicles in the
Tijuana river floodplain behind the artist.

Since borders have become more permeable for products
and less passable for people, Shulgin's computer is
allowed to travel freely between Mexico and the USA
without a visa, but Shulgin must remain behind the
chain-link fence that separates his hosting country,
the land of equal opportunity, from Mexico.

This Saturday evening Shulgin's 386 DX computer will be
in Mexico. Assistants will hand Shulgin his keyboard
(and the occasional taco) through a crack in the fence.
All are welcome to attend in either the USA at Border
Fields State Park  or in  Mexico at Las Playas de
Tijuana (at El Saro, where the Pacific Ocean and the
border meet).

To get to Border Fields State Park on the US side, take
Dairy Mart road (second of last exit on I-5) west until
you arrive at the beach. In Mexico, take the Ensenada
Highway west along the fence, get off at Las Playas,
drive west to the beach, and then north to the fence.

lo llegue a
M=E9xico es a trav=E9s de los agujeros en el cerco fronterizo.

A las 6 pm la noche de este s=E1bado, todos est=E1n invitados a prese=
nciar a
trav=E9s de la frontera a Shulgin y su banda cyberpunk 386 DX. La ban=
da
consiste de una vieja computadora que canta hits del rock n' roll e i=
ncluye
un show multimedia de im=E1genes y luces. Venga a la frontera para se=
r testigo
de una nueva era en que las computadoras est=E1n remplazando a los hu=
manos en
todos los niveles, con o sin fronteras.

Shulgin se presentar=E1 sobre el cesped con manicure de Border Fields=
 State
Park, en compa=F1=EDa de los pistoleros  y pistoleras uniformados, qu=
ienes
estar=E1n patrullando el =E1rea a la caza de migrantes ilegales mexic=
anos. Se
espera que la patrulla fronteriza vaya ejecutar uno de sus famosos ba=
llets
sincronizados, esta vez para la m=FAsica de Shulgin, manejando sus ve=
h=EDculos
verde y blanco a las espaldas del artista.

Como las fronteras se han vuelto m=E1s permisibles para los productos=
 y menos
transitables para las personas, a la computadora de Shulgin se le per=
mite
viajar libremente entre M=E9xico y los EUA sin una vis,a pero Shulgin=
 debe
permanecer atr=E1s del cerco met=E1lico que separa a la tierra de la =
igualdad de
oportunidades, de M=E9xico.

Esta tarde del s=E1bado la computadora 386 DX de Shulgin estar=E1 en =
M=E9xico. El
teclado se le pasar=E1 a Shulgin sobre el cerco met=E1lico. Todos son
bienvenidos a asistir, en cualquiera de los 2 lados, en los USA en Bo=
rder
Fields State Park o en M=E9xico en Playas de Tijuana (en el Faro) don=
de la
frontera y el Oc=E9ano Pac=EDfico se juntan.

Para llegar a Border Fields State Park, en EUA tomar Dairy Mart Road =
(la
antepen=FAltima salida en la autopista interestatal 5) hacia el oeste=
 hasta
llegar a la playa. En M=E9xico, ir a Playas de Tijuana y tomar el Pas=
eo
Ensenada hacia el oeste hasta llegar a la plaza de toros y luego haci=
a el
norte hasta llegar al faro y la frontera.
