[Subject]: The forum continues

Dear members of the list,

I am glad to announce, that the forum has been prolonged again. The
direction of the House of World Cultures has decided to extend it at
least until the end of March 2000. We are striving, however, to continue
it beyond that date.

I think, this news comes in at the right moment, since the discussion
and exchange within the forum have achieved an astounding intensity and
natural flow. Thanks a lot to all of you who have made this possible.

You may have wondered, why there were no summaries of the debate since
the end of August. Well, in September it was more important to bring the
debate in motion again and to research, contact and gain new
participants. This turned out successfully: since September the 30th the
participation has become so intensive, that I have had a lot to do with
administrating and moderating the list. During this time there came in
about 270 discussion contributions.

Now I am reviewing all of them again in order to publish an overview of
the most important issues. This will be available in English, German and
Spanish and include direct links to text versions of the original
postings. At the beginning of January I will publish this overview,
together with a list of topics, that from my point of view could be
further discussed. I hope this will help other forum's members to step
into the discussion.

In the meantime I am looking forward to following the debate on the last
(and new) controversial issues.
