I think it is Melrose Place that allowed the artist, Mel Chin, to insert actual decent art into its episodes, as well as subversive messages--for example, during the democracy demonstrations in China, some characers ordered Chinese take-out and the container the food was in had a political message written on it. For people who were clued in, that show had a whole different dimension. (Unfortunately, I didn't know about all of this and never thought to watch that show.) Later, some of the art was auctioned by (Christie's/Sotheby's--I forget) for a good cause. So if people are creative, they can do something very interesting with even that kind of TV drama. --Britta -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Britta Erickson 66 Peter Coutts Circle Stanford CA 94305 britta2@leland.stanford.edu Tel/FAX: 650 857-1007 http://www.stanford.edu/dept/art/china/
