[Subject]: The Daniel Langlois Foundation

Dear members of the forum,


Some of you may find of interest, to know about the The Daniel Langlois
Foundation, institution from which I received a grant for developing my
actual project "Voices of Ravensbrueck".  

Established in the spring of 1997 through an endowment provided by
Daniel Langlois, the mission of The Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art,
Science, and Technology is to promote contemporary artistic practices
that use digital technologies to express aesthetic and critical forms of
discourse; to encourage interdisciplinary research and, in general, to
sustain the development of projects calling for co-operation between
people from a variety of fields, such as artists, scientists, and
technologists or engineers.

The foundation has one call for projects a year and the annual deadline
is January 31st. 

Beside their general programs, they have one in particular for
Organisations from Emerging Countries which seems quite unique in the
field.

From their press information: "The Foundation encourages projects from
organisations active in the Foundation's priority regions outside
Western Europe and North America. Generally speaking, the Foundation
supports projects allowing artists or scholars who are not European or
North American to immerse themselves in technological contexts that are
non-existent or difficult to access in their own country, in order to
promote the integration of knowledge and practices specific to different
cultures. The Foundation may also support research projects that combine
the traditional artistic practices of certain cultures with advanced
technology, or that explore methods and processes based on the unique
aesthetic principles of certain cultures."
