It surprises me that you would end your comments with this statement:

The same people who believe in the virtues of "marketing" also believe,
no doubt, that earthly success is a mark of divine grace. :-)

Let's hope this is not the case. Yes, the artist who clamors the most has a better chance of being heard, though
they may or may not have the "mark of divine grace."

Perhaps the best thing to hope for is self-fulfillment and the opportunity to surround oneself with people who
appreciate, inspire, and challenge one's art.
