Every act you make is political. It is the act of a censor who claims political thought has no or little place in art. It is a statement of a person divorced from reality and self to claim politics has no place in art in a democracy. Man/woman is a political creation because we communicate our wants, desires and aspirations. Art expresses the self. If a person has a political self in a democracy then politics is a part of art by default and by duty. Your very statement is so loaded with political content that it is a refutation of your intended message. It says to me "Do not rock the boat or Ivory Tower critics will call your art bad and your career will suffer." To say a political statement makes all art bad is to say that any art for all time that has a political point relavant to its time is bad. This is so laughable. You condemn art which you have never seen - and can not imagine. Is it not Guilani who would agree with you most in style and substance. Your education should be examined in my humble opinion. -----Original Message----- From: Ami Isseroff Date: Wednesday, November 03, 1999 5:20 AM Subject: [forum1] Re: discussion about sensation IMHO It is as bad for you to judge art on a political basis as it is for may Giuliani to do so. IMHO If you mix politics and art you get art that is filthy and mediocre like most politicians and politics that are simple-minded and 2 dimensional, like most art. Ami
