Her grandmother told her when the wind howled down the gourge of the Rio Grande that it was La Llorona who had lost her children some tragic way which I don't remember and wailed through the night in grief. Little children were not to go out alone at night for fear that she would snatch them to replace her lost family. I don't know if this is useful to you, but if so...
