Following the success of the previous Consciousness Reframed conferences in 1997 and 1998 (each of which attracted some 200 delegates from 23 countries, including 100 presenters), Consciousness Reframed 2000 will again take place at the Centre for Advanced Inquiry in the Interactive Arts (CAiiA), University of Wales College, Newport . As in 1998, it will be followed the Workshop "Interstices: the Architecture of Consciousness" at the Science Technology and Art Research Centre (STAR), University of Plymouth (28/29 August). (Participation in the Workshop will be limited to those presenting papers at the Conference). Registration and Reception for Consciousness Reframed 2000 will be on Wednesday 23 August. The conference programme will be scheduled from Thursday 24 to Saturday 26 inclusive. Call for Conference Papers Papers are invited from researchers in all disciplines who are involved in exploring, through theory and practice, inter-relationships between art, technology and consciousness. Researchers in the sciences, technology, and the humanities, as well as the arts, are invited to submit. Abstracts (500 word maximum) are due by 5 November 1999 Submit your abstract as an attached document in Microsoft Word by e-mail to Kay Bosanko Sheady at aces@newport.ac.uk . Include up to five keywords with your abstract. Include in your submission the title of the paper, full name(s) of author(s), institutional affiliation(9s), and your mailing address, including email/phone/fax/and URL if applicable. (If Panels are proposed, give details of each panellist) Your Abstract must be accompanied by a declaration of intention to attend the conference. Abstracts will be acknowledged on receipt and authors will be notified of acceptance by 20 December 1999 Dealine of 1 March 2000 for full Papers Your Paper (no more than 2500 words) will be required by 1 March 2000. Papers received after this date will not be published. Registration Fee The Registration fee for Presenters will be £95. (non-presenters pay £225) Deadline for payment of the Presenters Registration fee is 12 February 2000 In order to be included in the Conference Programme, publicity and announcements, including the Website, the Registration Fee must have been paid by 12 February 1998. Charges for Conference Accommodation and Meals The Residential Charges for Caerleon Campus accommodation and meals, (including the Conference Dinner) from the Reception on Wednesday 19 August 1998 through breakfast on Sunday 23 August 1998 will be £ XXX The non-residential fee, without accommodation and breakfast but for all other meals, (including the Conference Dinner) from the Reception on Wednesday 19 August 1998 through evening of Saturday 22 August 1998 will be £XXX Presenters wishing to participate in the Interstices Workshop will be notified of costs separately.
