Before seeing a graph of those wired worldwide, I had the illusion the web was spreading at a tremendous rate. The web is expanding but not everywhere. The following information is from WorldWatch magazine. The U.N. Human Development Report 1999 shows that outside the OECD, only fractions of 1% of the population have Internet access. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development accounts for 19% of the world's people and has expanded from Europe and North America to include Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Mexico, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Korea.
