Regarding what Cynthia was saying on americanization, I would like to reflect on the fact that the export of "american culture" is the export of a system of marketing. In many ways the understanding of the future has to do with the way of thought of the global marketing: its "real" values, the cannibal capitalism behaviour inwhich there is very little concern on any after effects of such action. The countries are seen only like potential markets. There is very little deffense towards such path of thought, Newt Gingrich is unable to understand a simple exhibit of Mapplethorpe. Politicians, administrators (etc.) not only in the US but all over the world are educated in such especialized manner that their action do not pertain to the sphere we call "cultured".
