The film director Karim Aïnouz guides through the exhibition "Black Atlantic"
Aïnouz was born in Fortaleza, Brazil in 1966. He studied architecture at Brasilia University and later film theory in New York.
His short films "O Preso" (1992) and "Paixão Nacional" (1994) have received many awards and been shown at more than fifty festivals. He has received a number of scholarships for other film projects.
Aïnouz was assistant director of "Poison" (Todd Haynes, 1990), "Swoon" (Tom Kalin, 1991) "Postcards from America" (McLean, 1993) and wrote the script for Walter Salles' "Behind the Sun".
"Madame Satã" is Aïnouz's first feature film. It was a sensational success at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival.
